We’ll start at “PARQUES DEL RÍO”, a major urban development project in Medellín, aimed at transforming the city’s riverbanks into a vibrant and accessible public space. The project focuses on revitalizing the Medellín River and creating a network of parks, recreational areas, and cultural spaces, we’ll a short walk around admiring the beautiful architecture and surroundings.
After, we’ll visit the “PLAZA DE MERCADO”, “Plazas de Mercado” in Colombia, which refers to traditional marketplaces where farmers and locals buy and sell a wide variety of fresh produce, fruits, plants, flowers, and other goods. These markets are not only places to shop but also vibrant hubs of cultural and social activity. The markets provide an authentic glimpse into the daily life of Medellín residents and are integral to the city’s cultural identity. We’ll have the opportunity to try some delicious exotic fruits in a place full of life, traditions and culture.
On our following point we’ll get to experience one of the city’s innovated “CABLE CAR SYSTEM”. One of the primary goals of these projects was to improve accessibility for residents living in the city’s marginalized communities, they help connect these areas to the main public transportation network, making it easier for residents to access jobs, education, and healthcare facilities. We’ll take a ride above and through the “Barrios” of Medellín, offering breathtaking views of the city and the surrounding landscape as we traverse the mountainsides.
We’ll pass by the “CENTER OF MEDELLÍN” including Alpujarra Administrative Center, a prominent administrative and governmental complex located in the heart of Medellín. But that’s not all – we’ll explore the iconic “PLAZA BOTERO” full with Fernando Botero’s famous “fatties”, the plaza is famous for being a cultural and artistic hub, featuring a collection of 23 oversized bronze sculptures created by Botero himself, allowing visitors to interact with his legacy in an open and public space. The oversized dimensions of the sculptures contribute to a sense of playfulness and whimsy.
We’ll also visit “EL PALACIO NACIONAL” just a block away, an iconic colonial building turned into a shopping mall but kept its original beauty, we’ll explore every corner and be amazed by its hidden gems and its beautiful art exhibition.
