Guatapé is a small town located in the Antioquia department of Colombia, known for its colorful houses and beautiful natural surroundings. One of the main attractions in Guatapé is El Peñol’s Rock, a massive monolith that towers over the town and offers panoramic views of the surrounding area, sightseeing the islands, mountains and water combined creating an unreal scenery. Visitors can climb to the top of The Rock via a staircase with more than 750 steps, making it a popular spot for hiking and experiencing natural beauty.

In addition to its natural beauty, Guatapé is also known for its vibrant culture and rich history, name after an indigenous chief that worshiped this magical and mysterious rock, recent investigations have discovered different types of ceramics and tools used by these tribes in rituals and ceremonies.
One of the most iconic symbols of Guatapé is its colorful houses, which are painted in a variety of bright hues and patterns on the bottom part of the wall called “Zocalos”, Guatapé is known as the town of Zocalos, some of these zocalos have a unique design that represents the passion, culture, work and ancestors of the family that lives in each house, some are just pieces of art encrusted on the wall. These houses add to the town a charming and lively atmosphere, and are a popular spot for photography.
